Lessons from the Industrial Revolution
When people compare AI to the Industrial Revolution, they're usually talking about jobs and productivity.

Those comparisons are important.
But I think there is another lesson worth remembering.

The Industrial Revolution didn't simply introduce new machines.
It transformed entire societies.
It changed where people lived.
How they worked.
How they learned.
How organizations operated.
And how economies were structured.

The technology mattered, but the larger story was how people adapted to it.
AI presents a similar challenge.
Not because the technologies are identical, but because both force us to rethink systems, roles, and assumptions that once felt permanent.

The question isn't whether AI changes the work we do and how we do it.
The question may be how thoughtfully we navigate that change.
History suggests that change is inevitable.
How we respond to it is not.
